-Just like an actual cephalopod, it can ink itself to deter assailants. 
-Actually harmless; it just wants to watch cool paintball games happening.

It's unknown where Splatim originates from but what we do know is that it showed up shortly after Daten was flooded (around when King Thirst was repented). Many believe the Lost Soul was a result of a cephalopod that had a knack for fashion and was highly competitive.
